Every year the IES recognizes outstanding professionals in the field through the following: The IES Medal for meritorious technical achievement that has furthered the art or knowledge of illumination; the Louis B. Marks Award in recognition of exceptional service to the IES of a non-technical nature; Fellow designations in recognition of a valuable contribution to the Society's technical activities, to the art or science of illumination, or to the related scientific engineering fields; the Distinguished Service Award for service to the Society; the Taylor Technical Talent Award to acknowledge the most outstanding applications paper published in LD+A or presented at an Annual or Regional Conference. The IES Illumination Award provides a unique opportunity for public recognition of professionalism, ingenuity and originality in lighting design.
