Sol Systems, a national clean energy developer and independent power producer (IPP), has acquired the 200-megawatt (MW) AC Lumberton Solar Project in Hardin County, Texas from DESRI, a utility-scale renewable energy developer and investor.
The project is backed by a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) and marks Sol Systems’ second project acquisition of 2026.
DESRI advanced the Lumberton project through development, permitting, and commercialization before the sale, building on an existing relationship between the two companies.
The acquisition fits within Sol Systems’ broader strategy of growing its IPP platform through a combination of strategic acquisitions and direct project origination, with a focus on building, owning, and operating utility-scale clean energy infrastructure across the country.
“The Lumberton Solar Project reflects DESRI’s commitment to developing high-quality clean power assets that deliver value for local communities, energy customers, and project stakeholders,” said Hy Martin, Chief Development Officer at DESRI, in a statement.
The project is expected to create construction jobs and generate long-term tax revenues for Hardin County. Sol Systems will also work with local stakeholders to identify opportunities for the project to support community priorities over its operating life.
Andrew Grin, Senior Vice President of M&A and Strategic Partnerships at Sol Systems, added, “Lumberton is exactly the kind of high-quality project that strengthens our portfolio and advances Sol Systems’ strategy of pairing disciplined growth with long-term community value.”
