U.S. solar panel manufacturer Bila Solar announced it has entered a strategic partnership with Origami Solar, the industry leader in steel solar module frames.
Bila Solar will now offer Origami Solar’s U.S.-made steel frames as an option for its 550 W dual-glass module series, which also contains a domestically manufactured solar cell. This combination provides customers with higher domestic content and therefore stronger eligibility for tax incentives and bolstered supply chain security.
Bila’s offerings aim to help developers weather market volatility by mitigating the impacts of tariffs and price swings. In July alone, imports went up 0.4%.
Additionally, the agreement leverages the cost-competitiveness of domestic steel versus tariff-impacted imported aluminum, further demonstrating it as an economically and logistically advantageous strategy.
“Our goal with Origami from the start was to partner with leading manufacturers like Bila Solar to deliver products that push the solar industry towards stronger and more reliable system performance, support U.S. jobs and national energy security, and ensure American innovation remains at the forefront of the renewable energy transition,” said Origami CEO Gregg Patterson, in a statement.
Deliveries of the new module series are expected to begin in the second quarter of 2026.
