Castillo Engineering will provide full-scope engineering services for six new utility-scale solar projects in Illinois.
Developed by Recon Corporation, the portfolio includes multiple sites in several locations, including Manteno, Elburn, and Franklin Grove. The sites include agricultural and conservation-sensitive land. The projects build on a longstanding partnership between Castillo and Recon.
Castillo will deliver a full suite of civil and electrical engineering services for each of the projects, including power system and ampacity studies, structural and CAB calculations, equipment pad design, relay settings, and PVsyst modeling.
At multiple locations, Castillo faced significant engineering challenges, including central gas pipelines imposing strict constraints on electrical routing. The company worked within the limits, developing optimized layouts and safe, code-compliant designs.
