Cordelio Power’s Winfield 150 MW solar project, located in Lincoln County, Missouri, is now operational; it will sell 100% of the power it generates to Microsoft under a 15-year contract.
Qcells provided EPC services and its domestically manufactured modules for the project.
The site has been under development since 2017, originally through Dakota Renewable Energy, LLC, a joint venture between Dakota Power Partners, LLC and Eolian, L.P; Cordelio acquired the project in 2020.
Cordelio completed project financing for the Winfield project with lenders MUFG, National Bank of Canada, SMBC, and Rabobank, who collectively provided a construction loan facility to the tune of $207 million, as well as a $106 million term loan facility.
Fifth Third Bank and Cordelio partnered through a tax equity investment for the project, with a third party purchasing a portion of its investment tax credits.
“We’re quite pleased to be using the Qcells module platform, as well as their construction service business,” said Paul Rapp, Cordelio’s Chief Operating Officer, in a statement. “Qcells worked closely and well with us to ensure construction went smoothly, and have helped us transition into the initial period of operations.”
