NextNRG has secured a long-term lease option on 1,600 acres in Nassau County, Florida for the potential deployment of a 200 MW smart microgrid.
The company is moving forward with plans to build the microgrid on roughly 1,200 acres of property, with the remaining 400 acres being allocated for hyperscale data center development. The layout would offer operators ample land with access to power, water, and fiber already in place.
Located near Jacksonville International Airport, the property lends itself to expansion opportunities with direct access to major highways and international transport routes. NextNRG has potential access to approximately 6,000 additional acres in the county, as well.
The announcement comes amid increased demand for artificial intelligence and cloud computing infrastructure, with operators struggling to find suitable sites that combine reliable power, water, and network access.
The site already has all of the required resources in place, allowing NextNRG’s patented energy technologies like solar integration, predictive analytics, and hybrid microgrids to be deployed.
“Every region wants to attract the digital infrastructure of tomorrow, but very few can offer all the ingredients in one place,” said Michael D. Farkas, Executive Chairman and CEO of NextNRG, in a statement. “Nassau County has the land, the power, the water, and the connectivity, and when you add NextNRG’s hybrid energy technologies, you get a site that’s capable of supporting the future of hyperscale computing.”
