SolarPanelRecycling.com to Triple Capacity with New Facility

SolarPanelRecycling.com (SPR) has announced the addition of a new processing technology to its portfolio, as well as a new 50,000 square foot processing plant to its North Carolina headquarters campus.

SPR operates the largest distributed network of owned and operated solar recycling plants across the country.

The project will triple SPR’s North Carolina headquarters capacity from 500,000 to 1.5 million solar panels each year. The expanded capacity is in addition to its Texas and Georgia facilities, which process 1 million panels annually.

The new facility will support asset owners in meeting new solar recycling legislation in the state that becomes effective November 1, 2025. The new law will require decommissioning plans for projects over 2 MW, financial assurances for recycling, facility registration with the NC Department of Environmental Quality, and meeting environmental recovery standards.

The extended campus will be designed to provide asset owners with the scale and regulatory expertise necessary to meet these new obligations.

“As the solar industry matures, more panels are reaching end of life just as regulations continue to evolve. At SPR, we are proud to meet this moment with a diversified national portfolio and continued investment, including the addition of this advanced recycling technology operating at utility scale,” said Brett C. Henderson, CEO of SPR, in a statement. “These advancements uniquely position us as the nation’s leading solar recycler, delivering both the scale and innovation the market now requires.”
