Sam Martens was named President of Mission Solar Energy (MSE) in January 2024 after serving as Interim President for three months. Sam was at MSE when the company first broke ground nearly 10 years ago so his return is a sort of homecoming. For the last five years, Sam was the Senior Director of Strategy at OCI Enterprises, which is the U.S. holding company of OCI Holdings, a multi-national organization headquartered in Seoul, South Korea with diversified businesses that provide products and services across the renewable energy value chain. OCI Enterprises is the parent company of three U.S. entities, including MSE.
Earlier in his career, Sam held various positions with global investment banks in Korea, Singapore, and Hong Kong, responsible for the Asian semiconductor and solar sectors. He also worked in IT policy research at a Korean government think tank.
Sam was recently appointed to the Board of Directors of Brooks Gives Back, and he sits on the boards of Sun Action Trackers and the San Antonio Gaelic Athletic Club. From 2018-2020, he also served on the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Advisory Committee under Secretary Wilbur Ross.
Sam has a BA in International Studies, focusing on economics and international relations, from Korea University. He is fluent in English and Korean.
