Will McAdams is a partner at Texas Lobby Strategies, a leading Austin based public affairs firm specializing in public policy development and advocacy. Â Additionally, McAdams is Founder and President of McAdams Energy Group, LLC a consulting firm providing strategic advice and assistance in the areas of energy and critical infrastructure.
McAdams has spent 18 years in public service in both federal and state government.  Most recently McAdams was Governor Greg Abbott’s first appointee to the Public Utility Commission of Texas after winter storm Uri.  As Commissioner, McAdams helped develop weatherization standards for Texas based power generation, transmission and distribution infrastructure.  He also launched the Aggregated Distributed Energy Resource (ADER) Pilot, a first of its kind program that allows virtual power plants to sell excess power into the ERCOT grid’s portfolio of backup power services, also known as ancillary services.
Prior to joining the Commission, McAdams was President of the Associated Builders and Contractors of Texas, Advisor to the Speaker of the Texas House of Representatives for Business and Regulated Industries, Director for the Texas Senate Committee on Business and Commerce, Deputy Director for the Texas Senate Committee on Natural Resources, and Legislative and Media Relations Director to several state senators. Â Before working in state government, McAdams served for four years as an infantry officer in the United States Army and retired honorably as a captain.
