Gaby Alvayay-Olson

Gaby Olson has more than a decade in the metals recycling and commodities space. She got her start in recycling for a small vehicle demolition and dismantling organization after finding her way to the industry from cosmetic retail management. While her path to recycling was quite unconventional, Gaby quickly thrived in what typically is not an industry that has many female leaders historically. At Sims Metal she was brought on as a buyer for the Northern Nevada market where she gained feeder operations knowledge and high-level commercial trading skills. In collaboration with senior leadership Gaby was instrumental in facilities expansion in Nevada, developing new tools and processes, vehicle/shred procurement in CA, and regional commercial growth. In 2023, Gaby joined Redwood Materials as the mission was just too attractive to resist; she is responsible for helping shape the recycling and metal buying strategy in North America and provide operation guidance to support customer excellence.
