Intersolar & Energy Storage North America’s (IESNA) Advisory Board provides industry expertise and guidance, helping us develop timely, engaging, and educational programs that provide clean energy professionals with diverse perspectives, actionable insights, and innovative solutions. What motivated you to enter the clean energy industry?
“I am equally motivated by consumer empowerment and climate solutions. I started focusing on climate in 1998 out of frustration that media and governments were being overly skeptical of the science.”
What’s a lesson you’ve learned that still guides you today?
“Validators are key. It is often better to help other voices speak than to use your own microphone.”
Who inspires your work?
“All of the contractors and project developers who wake up every day to help customers with quality work.”
What’s a professional achievement you’re especially proud of?
“It’s hard to pick one bill that I am most proud of passing. The Healthy Air Act in Maryland was the strongest state-level bill to reduce emissions from coal plants, and led to strong national legislation.”
If you weren’t working in clean energy, what would you be doing instead?
“Helping train the next generation of leaders in some way.”
What’s one fun fact about you most people don’t know?
“I would always rather be playing hockey. Live to skate, skate to live.”
What’s the latest book, podcast, or show you loved and would recommend?
“One Blade of Grass, by Henry Shukman, for those with a Zen practice. “
