Solx, Caelux Partner to Commercialize Hybrid Tandem Solar Modules

U.S.-based solar manufacturer Solx and perovskite solar technology company Caelux have announced a five-year, 3 GW strategic partnership to commercialize next-generation hybrid tandem solar modules through a fully domestic supply chain.

The collaboration integrates Caelux’s advanced energy-producing glass into Solx’s Aurora™ platform, creating a solar module with two power generation layers capable of achieving efficiencies of 28% — significantly higher than conventional silicon-only modules.

U.S. production is already underway, with widespread commercial volumes expected by 2027 and a roadmap to scale to multi-gigawatt annual domestic capacity.

The partnership also incorporates Suniva’s U.S.-produced solar cells as the second power generation layer, establishing a fully domestic supply chain for the Aurora™ module. Solx’s manufacturing facility and headquarters are located in Puerto Rico.

“This is a defining moment for American energy manufacturing — U.S.-made hybrid tandem is no longer theoretical, it’s now in commercialized production,” said James Holmes, Co-Founder and CEO of Solx, in a statement. “This is how the U.S. leads again — by building the energy future at scale.”

Beta modules are already confirmed for deployment in an operating domestic project with a leading U.S.-based developer, marking a significant step in transitioning perovskite technology from laboratory settings to giga-scale commercial production.

Matt Card, CEO of Suniva, added, “A strong domestic supply chain is essential to America’s energy future. This partnership demonstrates what’s possible when U.S. manufacturers and technology leaders align.”
