Tesla has announced a new Semi Charging for Business program, enabling third-party businesses to purchase DC fast-charging infrastructure for heavy-duty electric vehicles— primarily the Tesla Semi.
The program offers two hardware options: the 1.2- megawatt (MW) Megacharger, designed for quick stops and capable of replenishing up to 60% of a Semi’s range in 30 minutes, and the 125-kilowatt (kW) Basecharger, an all-in-one depot charger built for overnight charging needs.
According to EVChargingStations.com, a base two-stall Megacharger system starts at $188,000, excluding taxes and installation, while Basechargers are priced at $20,000 per unit. For revenue-generating sites, Tesla offers an all-inclusive flat fee of $0.08/kWh, which is lower than the $0.10/kWh fee for Tesla’s Supercharger network and covers maintenance, network operations, driver support, and more.
Both charger types are equipped with the Megawatt Charging System (MCS) connector, and Tesla notes the infrastructure is expected to be compatible with other MCS-equipped heavy-duty EVs beyond the Semi.
The Megacharger is built on Tesla’s V4 Supercharging cabinet, while the Basecharger features a fully integrated design that eliminates the need for a separate AC-to-DC cabinet, simplifying installation. Its 19-foot cable also offers added layout flexibility for depot operators.
The program mirrors Tesla’s previously launched Supercharger for Business offering and includes a 97% uptime guarantee, a 10-year equipment service agreement, and remote diagnostics. Customer deliveries of the Basecharger are expected to begin in early 2027.
