Zaya Younan, founder and chairman of Younan Company, announced he is entering the large-scale renewable energy construction market with the launch of a utility-scale solar and storage project in California.
The project will be developed under Soleil Renewable Energy, LLC, and will be one of the top five largest power-producing solar facilities in the state once complete.
The Soleil Renewable Energy project will be located in East Kern County and span approximately 3,200 acres, integrating high-capacity solar generation and large-scale battery storage. It is expected to produce 880 MWdc (700 MWac) of solar power with a 460-megawatt (MW) battery energy storage system (BESS).
Progress is being made on parallel interconnection with the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power, establishing a dual-grid approach that improves flexibility, reliability, and future commercial opportunities.
“Innovation is not limited to one industry,” said Younan, in a statement. “Whether in luxury, technology, or energy, the objective is the same — to build world-class assets that endure, elevate standards, and contribute positively to society. Renewable energy represents both an economic opportunity and a responsibility for future generations.”
The Soleil facility is projected to generate approximately 1,900-2,000 gigawatt-hours (GWh) at full capacity, translating into around $100 million in annual gross revenue. Its development will help California meet its long-term, carbon-free electricity mandate and the demand for clean, dispatchable energy driven by electrification, data center expansion, and AI infrastructure growth.
Commercial operation is targeted for mid-2028.
