Ky Ajayi is a Bloomington, Illinois-based renewable energy developer and entrepreneur with deep expertise in Illinois’ solar incentive landscape. He currently serves in dual roles at the forefront of the state’s clean energy transition.
In his role as Solar Project Developer at StraightUp Solar, Ky brings that incentive expertise directly to clients, assessing energy usage, designing custom solar layouts, and structuring financing to minimize costs. He has accumulated hands-on experience with over 100 nonprofit and public facility projects through the ILSFA program, making him one of the most seasoned practitioners in Illinois for mission-driven and community-benefit solar development.
As President of Central Road Energy, an Illinois Shines Approved Vendor Aggregator he acquired in 2021, Ky specializes in navigating the complexities of the Illinois Solar for All (ILSFA) and Adjustable Block Program (ABP) frameworks. His work spans the full lifecycle of REC contract development — from Part I eligibility applications through Part II compliance and 15-year contract management — with a particular focus on expanding solar access for BIPOC businesses and underserved communities.
