One of America’s Largest Solar-Plus-Storage Projects Commences Operations

Energy developer, owner, and operator Arevon Energy’s Eland Solar-plus-Storage Project is now fully operational, and it is one of the largest facilities of its kind in the country.

The two-phase project, comprised of Eland 1 & 2, will have the ability to provide power to over 266,000 homes each year, and overall, can provide 7% of the total electricity requirements for Los Angeles.

Arevon developed and will own the project, which has a total nameplate capacity of 758 MW of solar, paired with 300 MW/1,200 MWh of energy storage. Eland 1 began operations at the end of 2024. Now that Eland 2 is up and running, the two phases comprise 1.36 million solar panels and 172 lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries.

Eland 1 & 2 created approximately 1,000 jobs during the construction phase. The project is anticipated to disburse more than $36 million in local government payments throughout its useful life, which can support schools, public services, and infrastructure enhancements.

“Strong collaboration among the project’s landowners and community members as well as our power offtake and financing partners was essential in getting us to this moment,” said Kevin Smith, Chief Executive Officer at Arevon, in a statement. “We are pleased to deliver homegrown, stable, and secure power to Los Angelenos and contribute to the state’s renewable energy goals — all the while supporting local communities and investing in long-term sustainability.”
