The Leaders Who Help Shape IESNA’s Conference Program
Intersolar & Energy Storage North America’s (IESNA) Advisory Board provides industry expertise and guidance, helping us develop timely, engaging, and educational programs that provide clean energy professionals with diverse perspectives, actionable insights, and innovative solutions. From the conference program to the exhibit hall, the contributions of these leaders help us connect installers, developers, distributors, technology providers, policymakers, and other key stakeholders in dynamic ways onsite that maximize learning, spark connections, and facilitate business.
Every other week, we’ll introduce you to one of the dedicated leaders who help guide this process.
Ravi Manghani
Senior Director of Strategic Sourcing, Anza Renewables
What motivated you to enter the clean energy industry?
“My undergraduate research on solar cells utilizing artificial photosynthesis sparked my interest in clean energy innovation and its potential to address climate change. This led me to focus on fuel cells for my master’s thesis, ultimately guiding me into the industry.”
What’s a lesson you’ve learned that still guides you today?
“The industry’s resilience consistently astounds me. This can be attributed to the shared passion for progress, but more crucially, to the collaborative spirit and mutual support within the sector. Ultimately, we remain a niche industry, and I’ve found value in embracing collaboration. I firmly believe that collective growth benefits everyone.”
If you weren’t working in clean energy, what would you be doing instead?
“As a teenager, long before I decided on an engineering career, I seriously thought about going into the culinary arts. So, there’s a chance I could have ended up as a chef.”
What’s an achievement you’re especially proud of?
“Having been one of the first analysts to focus on energy storage in the early 2010s, I had the privilege of contributing to the inaugural U.S. energy storage market outlook and developing the market research program for the sector. One of my proudest accomplishments was the development of a framework for evaluating the potential of energy storage as a replacement for peaker plants.”
What’s one fun fact about you most people don’t know?
“I’m a self-proclaimed foodie, and have a particular fondness for desserts. If you’re in San Diego next February for IESNA and want to explore some dessert shops, I’m in!”
