Altus Power, a commercial-scale solar company, has partnered with The Arc of Rensselaer County to give the organization’s employees, members, families, and supporters access to a local community solar project.
Subscribers receive credits that lower their monthly electricity costs, with no upfront investment and no changes to their homes or existing utility service.
The partnership also includes financial incentives. People who complete enrollment through The Arc’s program receive a $50 sign-on bonus, and Altus will donate $50 to The Arc’s Employee Emergency Fund for every eligible enrollment. The fund provides assistance to employees facing unexpected financial hardship.
“Community solar is available to renters and homeowners alike, which makes it one of the most accessible tools available for lowering soaring electric bills,” said Skylar Werde, Head of Community Solar, Altus Power, in a statement.
The partnership was arranged with help from John B. Hamor and Capital Energy Partners, who connected The Arc with Altus Power. It comes as electricity prices continue to climb, and the program is meant to give participants a way to reduce energy costs while supporting the organization’s workforce.
