OneEnergy Expands Wisconsin Solar Portfolio with Two Utility-Scale Projects

Public Benefit Corporation OneEnergy Renewables has entered into an Asset Purchase Agreement with We Energies, Wisconsin Public Service Corporation (WPS) and Madison Gas and Electric Company (MGE), a move that significantly supports Wisconsin’s clean energy goals.

Headquartered in Madison, Wisconsin and Seattle Washington, OneEnergy develops solar projects that prioritize responsible siting and stewardship.

Per the agreement, OneEnergy will build two utility-scale solar projects in Columbia County, totaling approximately 165 megawatt hours (MWh). The power produced will go toward meeting the state’s net-zero emissions goal by 2050.

The 98-megawatt (MW) project, Good Oak, and the 67-MW project, Gristmill, are both named to pay homage to the area’s natural habitat and local history.

While OneEnergy will take care of development and construction, it will hand the projects over to We Energies, WPS, and MGE at commercial operations. The sites are expected to be constructed in 2026 and 2027, using union labor and workers from across the state.

As part of its commitment to a responsible energy transition, OneEnergy will provide community benefits and prioritize land stewardship.

“At OneEnergy, we are committed to developing high-quality projects that are built for longevity. We are fortunate to partner with an amazing group of landowners hosting these projects and are excited to be constructing them for a similarly strong group of utility partners,” stated Eric Udelhofen, VP of Development at OneEnergy, in a statement. “Working with We Energies, WPS and MGE on these two utility-scale projects will build on a solid foundation of prior collaboration across the numerous distributed solar projects we have developed and constructed with them across Wisconsin.”
