Oracle has launched a request for proposals (RFP) seeking 2 gigawatts (GW) of new renewable energy development in New Mexico, targeting solar, wind, geothermal, and other clean energy technologies with delivery timelines between 2027 and 2031.
The RFP is open to energy developers with projects located in New Mexico. Submissions will be evaluated on capacity, project maturity, technical viability, expected delivery timing, and ability to support Oracle’s long-term energy commitments.
The company has indicated it will prioritize projects that can come online on an accelerated schedule.
“New Mexico has an extraordinary opportunity to grow its renewable energy resources and create lasting value for communities across the state and Oracle wants to help accelerate that growth,” said Mahesh Thiagarajan, executive vice president, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, in a statement.
The renewable energy procurement is part of Oracle’s broader investment in New Mexico tied to Project Jupiter, its data center campus under development in Doña Ana County. The campus currently employs nearly 1,000 New Mexico residents in construction roles and has generated close to $100 million in state and local tax revenue to date.
To date, Oracle has committed $50 million toward local water system improvements, $360 million in direct support for schools, infrastructure, and local services, and $6.9 million for workforce development.
