Power Electronics Breaks Ground on 40 GW Houston Manufacturing Campus

Power Electronics, a global manufacturer of solutions for solar, storage, data centers, and e-mobility has broken ground on a new 53-acre manufacturing campus in Houston, Texas, which the company says will be the largest facility of its kind in the United States for power conversion systems.

Once fully operational, the campus is expected to reach up to 40 gigawatts (GW) of annual production capacity and create more than 400 jobs in the Houston area.

The campus will include two buildings of approximately 150,000 and 700,000 square feet, consolidating logistics, production, electronics manufacturing, research and development, training, and corporate offices at a single site.

It is designed to become the company’s most automated inverter production facility to date, incorporating advanced manufacturing processes aimed at improving efficiency, quality, and scalability.

β€œFor the first time in many years, the United States will be able to meet its growing need for sustainable power generation capacity and energy resilience through local manufacturing, supported by the most advanced technology in the world. Our 40 GW Houston Campus will help shape the future of energy and AI growth globally,” said David Salvo, CEO of Power Electronics, in a statement.

The project expands Power Electronics’ U.S. industrial footprint at a time when domestic supply chain resilience is a growing priority for developers and project owners.
