Qcells Advances America’s Largest Solar and Storage Project with Arizona Atlas V and VI

Qcells is highlighting its end-to-end role in delivering the Atlas V (237 megawatts (MWdc)) and Atlas VI (135 MWdc) solar projects in La Paz County, Arizona, totaling 372 MWdc.

The two projects are part of the broader Atlas Energy Park, one of the largest combined solar and energy storage projects in the United States.

Qcells initially developed and then divested the projects, which are being constructed through its self-perform engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) solution using its own modules, racking, and Michigan-made energy storage products from LG Energy Solutions.

The projects feature domestically manufactured solar modules from Qcells’ Georgia facility and Ohio-made FLEXRACK solar racking, supporting domestic content tax credit eligibility. Qcells will also provide long-term asset management services to ensure ongoing performance.

“Atlas V and VI are a clear demonstration of Qcells’ ability to deliver fully integrated, utility-scale solar solutions at scale,” said Qcells EPC CEO Chris Hodrick, in a statement. “Our end-to-end platform enables us to optimize execution, enhance value, and deliver strong, long-term certainty for our partners.”

The Atlas projects are contracted under long-term power purchase agreements with Southern California Edison. Hanwha Renewables recently sold the projects to Morrison-backed Chrysalis Renewables.

By 2028, the full Atlas Energy Park is expected to deliver 2.8 gigawatts (GW) of solar generation capacity and 5.7 gigawatt-hours (GWh) of energy storage capacity across multiple phases, significantly enhancing grid reliability in the Southwestern United States and California.
