Nextpower Expands Solar eBOS Portfolio with U.S. Patent and 2 GW Backlog Milestone

Nextpower has been awarded a U.S. patent for its NX PowerMerge electrical balance of systems (eBOS) solution, which covers the company’s solar trunk bus connector technology used in utility-scale solar power plants.

The company also announced a new project award from BUILD Renewables, pushing the NX PowerMerge backlog past 2 gigawatts (GW).

In utility-scale solar installations, DC collection systems link power from thousands of solar panel strings to larger trunk conductors across a project site.

NX PowerMerge addresses common field installation challenges by combining a single trunk cable connection point with an installation tool that verifies pressure at every connection, eliminating guesswork during construction.

The connector body works across multiple trunk cable sizes, giving engineering, procurement, and construction teams flexibility to adapt as project designs evolve.

The patent expands Nextpower’s intellectual property portfolio in a critical layer of solar power plant infrastructure.

“BUILD Renewables is excited to be partnering with Nextpower on their NX PowerMerge eBOS product, which provides exemplary safety, installation velocity, and performance features,” said Craig Sandeen, president and CEO of BUILD Renewables, in a statement.
