RWE has officially commissioned the Stoneridge Solar project in Milam County, Texas, adding 200 MW of solar generation and 100 MW (200 MWh) of battery storage to the state’s energy mix.
The project strengthens Texas’ supply of reliable, cost-competitive electricity while supporting the state’s growing demand for dependable, homegrown power.
Construction of Stoneridge Solar created more than 200 jobs, and the site now supports permanent operational roles, contributing to long-term employment opportunities in the region.
Beyond job creation, the project is expected to generate millions in tax revenue for Milam County and the Thorndale Independent School District. These funds will directly support public services, educational improvements, and community infrastructure.
RWE has already begun investing locally through targeted community partnerships. Contributions include funding upgrades at Thorndale Elementary School and supporting the local volunteer fire department—efforts that help strengthen community resilience, safety, and long-term prosperity. These initiatives reflect RWE’s broader approach to ensuring that renewable energy development delivers meaningful value to the regions where projects are built.
“Stoneridge Solar is a great example of the power of local partnership and the positive role energy projects play in economic stimulation,” said Andrew Flanagan, CEO, RWE Clean Energy, in a statement. “We are helping Texas and the nation secure their energy future with scalable, homegrown energy while also delivering meaningful benefits to communities across America’s heartland.”
