Clearbrook, a nonprofit serving more than 8,000 children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities across the Chicago area, has partnered with community solar provider Common Energy to bring electricity bill savings to more than 70 of its locations.
The partnership spans 16 community solar projects with a combined capacity of 60 megawatts (MW), expected to generate approximately 85 million kilowatt-hours (kWh) of clean electricity annually.
Clearbrook’s locations will receive monthly bill credits reducing electricity costs by up to 20% over 20 years, with savings directed back into programs and services for the individuals and families the organization supports.
Many of those served by Clearbrook live on fixed incomes and face a disproportionate burden from rising electricity prices.

Over the lifetime of the projects, the partnership is expected to avoid an estimated 2 billion pounds of carbon emissions across the communities where Clearbrook operates.
Common Energy manages approximately 1 gigawatt (GW) of community solar projects across the country.
