Octopus Energy has launched Octopus Charge, a free iOS and Android app that allows drivers to find, start, and pay for charging at more than 211,000 EV chargers across North America through a single platform.
The app aggregates charging access across 24 partner networks including ChargePoint, EVgo, Blink, bp pulse, Shell Recharge, FLO, Circle K, and others, addressing one of the most common frustrations among EV drivers: the need to manage multiple apps and accounts to access public charging.
According to Electrek, drivers can search by location or ZIP code and filter results by charging speed, connector type, or network, with live availability, pricing, and nearby amenities displayed in the app. Octopus says it passes through each network’s pricing without markup.
“Driving electric should be simple, wherever the journey leads,” said Nick Chaset, CEO of Octopus Energy US. “Drivers shouldn’t have to juggle multiple apps and accounts just to charge their cars. By bringing public charging into one seamless experience, Octopus Charge gives drivers the confidence to hit the road, making charging one less thing they have to think about while helping remove another barrier to EV adoption.”
Octopus Charge is the North American counterpart to Octopus Electroverse, the company’s public charging platform in the UK and Europe that has been available since 2020 and provides access to more than 1 million charge points across 40 countries.
The North American app launches with a smaller but still substantial footprint, covering several of the country’s major charging networks from day one.
