Pivot Energy, CoorsTek Partner on 10.4 MW Net Metering Solar Project in Greeley, Colorado

Denver-based clean energy provider and independent power producer (IPP) Pivot Energy is partnering with Golden, Colorado-based technical ceramics manufacturer CoorsTek to increase the solar capacity of Northeastern Colorado.

The Weld County Planning Commission has approved three off-site net metering solar sites in Greeley totaling 10.4 megawatts direct current (MWdc). Pivot and CoorsTek have entered into a 20-year agreement under which Pivot will develop, own, and operate the project.

It is expected to produce approximately 20 million kilowatt-hours (kWh) of solar energy each year, which is enough to cover 40% of CoorsTek’s power usage at six of its facilities.

“This partnership with Pivot Energy reflects our commitment to a more resilient and sustainable future for CoorsTek and our communities,” said Dara Ward, Director of Sustainability for CoorsTek, in a statement. “By securing clean energy and managing electricity costs, these projects meaningfully reduce our environmental footprint in Colorado and move us closer to achieving our long-term climate vision.”

The off-site solar system will contain three co-located solar arrays with a combined capacity of 10.44 MWdc. CoorsTek will receive credits on its utility bills through net metering and retain 100% of the renewable energy credits (RECs) generated by the project.

The company will not have to provide any upfront capital investment or incur any ongoing maintenance or operational costs.

Mat Elmore, SVP of Strategic Accounts at Pivot Energy, added, “Pivot Energy’s agreement with CoorsTek highlights how Colorado-based companies can work together to deliver tangible economic value, lower electricity costs, support local businesses, and provide meaningful community impact.”

The sites will utilize domestically manufactured solar panels, with construction scheduled to begin in the second half of 2026.
