Carolyn is an elected County Board Member serving McHenry County, Illinois since 2022. She is Vice Chair of the Planning, Environment, and Development Committee and member of the Finance & Administration and Law & Government Committees. Carolyn serves on the Senior Services Grant Commission and is Liaison to the Emergency Management Agency (EMA), sitting on the Local Emergency Planning Committee and EMA Coordinating Council. Representing McHenry County, Carolyn also serves on the Executive Committee for the Northwest Water Planning Alliance (NWPA) – a regional coalition representing over 80 communities across five Northern Illinois counties focused on river and groundwater protection, water conservation, and research and planning initiatives to ensure long-term water sustainability.
A strong advocate for balancing fiscal stewardship and economic growth with the protection of the County’s natural and agricultural resources, Carolyn also serves on the Illinois State Association of Counties (ISACo) Environment, Energy, and Land Use Committee and the Metropolitan Mayors Caucus Environment Committee where she is also a participant on their Data Center Task Force.
A former local government finance and administration professional, Carolyn also served as Trustee for the McHenry County Conservation District between 2017 and 2022 and is a current Director for the McHenry County Conservation Foundation. Embracing clean technologies, Carolyn and her husband have installed a geothermal system and solar panels for their home, and each drives an electric vehicle.
