SEG Solar, a U.S. solar module manufacturer headquartered in Houston, has announced plans to establish a new 4-gigawatt (GW) solar manufacturing facility in Houston, Texas.
The expansion will increase SEG’s total annual U.S. module production capacity to approximately 6 GW, with commercial operations expected to begin in Q3 2026.
The nearly 500,000-square-foot facility represents an investment of over $200 million and is expected to create up to 800 new jobs. The expansion builds on the success of SEG’s existing 2-GW facility and is part of the company’s long-term domestic manufacturing strategy, positioning it as one of the largest 100% U.S.-owned solar module manufacturers.
The new facility is designed with the flexibility to integrate next-generation technologies, including heterojunction (HJT) technology, as the industry evolves.
“This new facility marks an important milestone for SEG. It will further strengthen our U.S. manufacturing capabilities while supporting ongoing technology innovation,” said Timothy Johnson, VP of Operations of SEG Solar, in a statement.
The announcement follows SEG’s previously disclosed plan to develop a 5-GW ingot and wafer manufacturing facility in Indonesia, expected to begin construction in Q2 2026.
Once completed, SEG will be positioned to deliver modules through a fully integrated supply chain spanning ingots, wafers, and cells.
Johnson added, “The plant is designed with the flexibility to integrate next-generation technologies, including HJT, as the industry evolves.”
