Stacking Value: A First Look at the New Economics of Midwest C&I Solar

Free Live Webinar | Monday, June 1, 2026 | 2:00 PM ET

The C&I solar pitch used to be straightforward: offset your electric bill, lock in savings, done. That pitch is no longer enough. Today’s most successful Midwest projects are layering in revenue streams that didn’t exist five years ago, and developers who aren’t fluent in them are leaving real money on the table.

In this one-hour webinar, three practitioners working at the front edge of C&I value creation will break down what’s actually penciling in MISO and PJM territory right now — and what’s coming next.

Expect a candid look at: how storage-paired solar projects are tackling demand charge management; how community solar subscriptions and behind-the-meter projects are expanding the C&I opportunity set; how offtake agreements are being structured for C&I customers; and whether the evolving REC market — voluntary and compliance — can deliver durable, bankable revenue as state programs in the Midwest mature.

This webinar is a preview of a panel discussion taking place at the upcoming Intersolar & Energy Storage North America (IESNA) Midwest conference and trade show, and is designed for developers, asset owners, and C&I energy professionals who want a head start on the conversation before the event.

Speakers

Lewis Butler, Senior Account Executive, TotalEnergies

Lewis Butler is a Senior Account Executive at TotalEnergies, where he leads commercial solar project development from site assessment through contract negotiation and financing. With over eight years in the industry, he has developed projects across 50+ ground and roof sites.

Before TotalEnergies, Lewis served as National C&I Sales Manager at Nelnet Renewable Energy, expanding operations to three new states. He holds a B.S. in Economics from Hillsdale College and an M.A. in Economics from George Mason University.

Lewis is active in state-level renewable energy policy and serves as Board President of ISEA (Illinois Solar & Storage Energ Association), with previous board and advisory roles at MOSEIA, ISETA, and ASGA. In 2020, his dog-bone-shaped solar array for a pet treat manufacturer won Solar Builder Magazine’s C&I Project of the Year.

Mark Goudreault, CPower, Origination Manager, Distributed Generation

Mark Goudreault is the Origination Manager of Distributed Generation at CPower Energy, where he focuses on developing and scaling commercial and industrial (C&I) storage and flexible load strategies across PJM and MISO markets. In his role, Mark works closely with developers, asset owners, and C&I customers to unlock project value beyond traditional bill savings by integrating grid revenues and coincidental peak savings.

With a background that spans energy efficiency, demand response, and distributed generation, Mark brings a practical, market-facing perspective on what is actually penciling in today’s Midwest C&I projects. His work centers on aligning on-site generation and storage assets with utility programs and wholesale market opportunities—such as Frequency Regulation participation, capacity and transmission management, and full-scale BESS optimization—to improve project economics in increasingly competitive regulatory environments.

Marc Palmer, CEO, Conductor Solar

Marc Palmer is the founder and CEO of Conductor Solar. As an expert in solar financing with a track record of funding over $1 billion in solar and wind projects, Marc has been working at the intersection of renewable energy and capital markets for over 15 years. This experience led him to build Conductor Solar, a deal platform that improves financing and development for C&I and community solar projects through faster timelines, higher success rates, and lower soft costs.

Prior to founding Conductor Solar, Marc worked in consulting and brokerage for C&I solar with New Resource Solutions, utility scale renewable energy project finance with Invenergy, and management and strategy consulting with PwC. Marc lives in Cincinnati with his family and holds a BSE from the University of Michigan and an MBA from Northwestern’s Kellogg School of Management.
