FranklinWH Joins Entergy Louisiana’s Home Battery Program

FranklinWH Energy Storage has announced that homeowners with a FranklinWH System can enroll in Entergy Solutions, a new residential battery program from Entergy Louisiana that pays customers for making stored energy available when electricity demand is high.

Solar panels are not required to participate; homeowners who install a new FranklinWH System and enroll within a year of purchase receive $75 per kilowatt-hour (kWh) of installed storage, up to $1,000.

Both new and existing systems that join the program also earn $125 for every average kilowatt (kW) discharged during program events, capped at $600 per year. During those events, Entergy calls on enrolled batteries to send stored energy to the grid, and the FranklinWH App manages dispatch automatically.

Systems can provide about 80% of an enrolled aPower battery’s available stored energy during an event.

“We designed the FranklinWH System to give homeowners confidence during an outage, and Entergy Solutions extends that value in a new direction. Homeowners can now be compensated for helping meet overall demand while keeping the reserve power they count on,” said FranklinWH global CEO, Ke Bi, in a statement.

Entergy Louisiana says it will not draw on customer batteries when a severe storm is forecast, so homeowners keep a full charge for backup power. The utility projects that its virtual power plant (VPP) programs will provide 155 megawatts (MW) of dispatchable capacity by 2030, which it says reduces the need for costlier utility-scale generation and helps lower bills for all customers.
