Primergy Solar LLC announced that the 408 MWac Ash Creek Solar project, located in Hill County, Texas, has commenced operations.
The solar PV plant is now providing affordable energy to the grid, in partnership with Microsoft through a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA).
Ash Creek will provide approximately $100 million in tax payments to the county during its useful life and greatly increase the tax base of local school districts.
The project is a prime example of Primergy’s track record of executing some of the largest and most innovative utility-scale solar projects in the U.S. Last year, the company announced $588 million in project financing for Ash Creek’s construction, as well as an additional commitment of $350 million in tax equity financing, bringing the total capital committed for the project to almost $1 billion.
Ash Creek was originally developed by Orion Power Generation, LLC—a joint venture between Orion Renewable Energy Group LLC and Eolian. Primergy acquired the project in 2021.
“Projects like Ash Creek Solar provide thoughtful energy solutions to meet the needs of consumers, drive long-term value, and strengthen America’s energy independence,” said Primergy CEO Ty Daul in a statement. “We are proud to work alongside Microsoft, our local stakeholders, and the broader Hill County community to ensure this project delivers reliable and affordable energy to the grid, along with economic growth for the community for years to come.”
