EVgo to Install 150+ EV Charging Stalls Annually at Kroger Stores Through 2035

EVgo Inc. announced plans to build at least 150 fast charging stalls each year through 2035 at Kroger Family of Stores locations across the U.S.

The expansion will add up to 16 high-power fast charging stalls at select Kroger locations, building on the companies’ 2022 collaboration.

The first new charging site, located in Salt Lake City, Utah, is already operational, with additional planned locations spanning Arizona, California, Florida, Georgia, Texas, and Washington, among other states.

The chargers will be installed at Kroger, Foods Co., Fred Meyer, Fry’s Food Stores, Harris Teeter, King Soopers, and Smith’s Food and Drug branded locations.

The chargers are capable of delivering a full charge in as little as 15 minutes, a natural fit for grocery locations where customers tend to spend less than an hour shopping. In addition to providing convenience for drivers, the installations also directly benefit nearby businesses through increased foot traffic and customer spending.

“EVgo’s expanded relationship with Kroger introduces more fast charging options into Americans’ everyday lives,” said Badar Khan, CEO of EVgo, in a statement. “Kroger is the grocery destination of choice for millions of Americans. Adding fast charging to Kroger locations will provide the growing number of EV drivers an essential amenity – the convenience of charging where they shop while empowering drivers with the freedom to choose electric.”

EVgo’s network currently includes over 4,600 operational stalls nationwide with more than 15,000 more expected to come online by the end of 2029.
