Standard Solar Adds 8 MW of New York Community Solar

Standard Solar has announced the acquisition of two community solar projects in New York from EDF power solutions North America, adding approximately 8 megawatts (MW) of capacity to its existing portfolio in the state.

The two projects — Water Chestnut, a 3.9 MW project in Alfred Station, Allegany County, and Hanoverian, a 4 MW project in West Henrietta, Monroe County — both received awards from NYSERDA and are expected to be completed in early 2027.

Once operational, the projects will provide clean energy to local subscribers across their respective communities.

“These projects reflect our continued focus on acquiring high-quality community solar assets in New York and nationwide,” said Megan Byrn, VP of Business Development, Standard Solar, in a statement. “By working with experienced development partners like EDF power solutions, we can help move strong projects forward efficiently and deliver long-term value for customers, communities and the grid.”

The acquisition builds on Standard Solar’s substantial existing New York portfolio of 82.3 MW of solar and 5.6 MW of storage.

The company has a history of acquiring projects developed by EDF power solutions and its predecessor entities, including projects in Texas, Massachusetts, and Pennsylvania.

Rod Viens, Vice President and General Manager, Distribution-Scale Power at EDF power solutions, added, “Standard Solar brings the long-term ownership experience and operational discipline needed to ensure these projects deliver sustained value.”
