Enbridge has announced that Sequoia Solar Phase One, a 400-megawatt (MW) solar facility located in Callahan County, west of Dallas, Texas, is now fully operational.
Sequoia Solar is being developed in two phases, with Phase Two adding 415 MW of capacity; it is expected to reach completion by year-end.
Once fully operational, the combined 815 MW project will be among the largest solar installations in North America.
“This milestone reflects what Enbridge does best: executing complex projects safely, predictably, and with purpose. We’re continuing to deliver all-of-the-above energy solutions to help power North America,” said Greg Ebel, President and Chief Executive Officer of Enbridge, in a statement.
The facility will deliver power to AT&T, Toyota, PepsiCo, and Donaldson Company through long-term power purchase agreements (PPAs).
For Toyota, the project supports its Environmental Challenge 2050 goal of achieving carbon neutrality at all North American facilities by 2035. AT&T will use the power to help manage energy costs and reduce its carbon footprint.
Allen Capps, Senior Vice President, Corporate Strategy and President, Power, added, “Sequoia Solar reflects what’s possible through close collaboration across teams and partners. Bringing the first phase into operation is an important milestone, delivering new power to customers and advancing one of North America’s largest solar projects.”
