Orion Energy Systems announced it will install four High Power DC EV chargers and related infrastructure at two locations for the Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT).Ā
The installations, located at the Barnstable and Plymouth service areas, will be completed by Orionās Voltrek division.Ā
As part of a contract valued at $2 million, the installations are part of MassDOTās five-year plan to increase the number of EV chargers, with a focus on travel plazas along the Massachusetts Turnpike. MassDOT is also working toward increasing the number of charging stations in urban areas and other locations throughout the state.Ā
Orion/Voltrek is also involved in dozens of installations for Boston Public Schools, which aims to electrify 100% of the districtās 750 school buses as part of the largest school bus electrification project in the Northeastern U.S.Ā
The company recently announced it had installed 90 EV charging stations for the Boston Public School system, with multiple contracts valued at $6.5 million.Ā
