RES, the world’s largest independent renewable energy company, has opened a flagship warehouse facility in Houston, Texas, designed to support its growing U.S. solar and battery energy storage operations and maintenance (O&M) business.
The facility will serve as RES’ primary U.S. inventory management hub, consolidating stock, tools, parts, and consumables to support O&M projects across solar and battery energy storage system (BESS) assets nationwide.
The Houston location also expands RES’ spare parts commercial offering, including vendor managed inventory, in a location customers can visit directly. Future phases of the facility will introduce technical training capabilities and equipment repair and refurbishment services.
“Supply-chain resilience is now a critical part of asset performance,” said Juan Gutiérrez, CEO of RES Services, in a statement. “By investing in local infrastructure, we are ensuring our customers have faster, more reliable access to the parts and expertise they need – whatever the external environment brings.”
The investment comes as the U.S. renewables market enters a period of significant growth, with the Energy Information Administration (EIA) projecting 43.4 gigawatts (GW) of new utility-scale solar and 24 GW of new BESS capacity to come online in 2026 alone. Texas accounts for approximately 40% of planned solar construction nationally, making the Houston location strategically significant.
RES has constructed 19.5 GW of renewable energy projects in the U.S. to date. The Houston facility will play a major role in supporting a 1.5 gigawatts peak (GWp) O&M contract with Repsol, covering major projects in Texas and New Mexico.
